"Hol... Hold On... ! " Karl exclaimed while trying to keep his balance. He wasn't sure whether it was the girl's great strength or it was him allowing her to drag him along. She seemed to have found the correct classroom and mumbled something like, "yup, correct classroom" and dragged the already-stumbling-over Karl into it. The rest of the class, who then realised they had new friends joining the class, turned their attention to the couple and watched them in amazement as Karl tried to shake her hands off his.
"He...Hey!" Karl yelled as he finally managed to get her hands off him. Immediate silence. It had brought about the attention of the whole class, if it had not already did. Whoops.
"Students!" someone shouted.
Saved. The entire class shifted their sight from him to a boy that had just shouted in from outside the classroom. " Please get back to your seats!" the boy continued.
Although they do not have to wear uniforms, Karl could tell that the boy was from the school. He was wearing a tie which bear the crest of the school. The crest had a lion fused together with a bird that looked like a mix between the long feathery tail and face of the silver pheasant and the longer neck or legs of the Chinese Phoenix. Below the crest seemed to have some letters imprinted on it which on closer look spells the word 'Prefect'. The boy does not seem much older than Karl and size-wise, he seems to be pretty much about the same as the rest of the boys in Karl's class. The tie, however, means authority.
"The principal is going to make his welcome speech. Students please get back to your seats." the boy repeated as the speaker system started to beep in unison.
All of the students seemed to have already found themselves a seat and Karl, who apparently got to the classroom late had no other choice left, other than the seat on the last row closest to the window.
Well, Karl have no qualms about it whatsoever, since he did not have to sit next to the female thief. On the other hand, he seemed quite happy about it. Probably because he realised a really cute girl sitting beside the seat that he is going to sit on. On inspection, given her big green eyes, long blond hair and really fair skin, it was likely that she was not asian. Karl wondered why a foreign girl would actually come all the way to this tiny island and particularly this school, which he got in after no other school would accept him, to study. Well, it didnt matter. He walked to the remaining seat and plopped down on his chair and threw a glance at the blond cutie who did not seem to realise.
The principal made his welcome speech. Karl wasn't paying much attention to it but rather, was half-eyeing the blond girl and half thinking about the mystery behind his admission to the school. The principal wasnt addressing anything he wants to know. He was just blabbering about how happy and excited he is on welcoming the students into this historic school and that they "hope we are too" sort of speech and more "congratulations the school is full again!" kind of speech which all other schools like to make in their speeches. Nothing much from the speech...Wait.
The principal mentioned historic school? And 'full again'? How long has this school been standing? How popular is this school that Karl had never heard before anyway? Somehow, Karl seemed to have more interest on the speech.
The speech ended perfectly with the students applauding in thanks. But Karl's "pay too much attention" hadnt paid off. He couldnt sift out anything from the trash the principal had continued talking on and apparently he fell asleep before he could do so. Just as he was waking up from his half-asleep state, someone seemed to have entered the classroom. The applause and conversations ceased as the figure moved into the classroom. Karl lifted his head which had drooped on the table and noticed a silhouette of a woman, which is possibly the teacher.
"Good morning class." the woman said to the class. "I'm Mizuno Emi. I will be your form teacher for this year. Nice to meet all of you."
Wow. Japanese form teacher - some experience not present in other schools. Perfecly fine English, looks perfectly fine. She had long straight hair with curls at the ends, rosy cheeks with a dimple, lovely figure which her flowing dress brought out, dressing complete with silver high heels and flowery dangling earrings and some jewellery dangling from her neck and wrists. All in all - sweet looking and not much problems. The only problem Karl could find was she was wearing spectacles which diminished the size of her pretty ocean blue eyes.
"Miss Mizuno." The girl from morning raised her hand from her seat. "Yes, Miss ...?" Mizuno turned her gaze towards the girl. "Aries, Aries Ho. Im Singaporean." said the girl. "I heard you are one of the finest teachers from the main branch in Japan. Is there any reason for the transfer?"
Main branch? There is a main branch in Japan? "Ah, that." The teacher replied. "I had some personal business over here in Singapore so I asked for a transfer." "I see. Oh yes, another question." Aries replied with understanding. " There were rumours that this school was set up here as a base for investigation of some major crime incident. Is that true?" This stirred discussion amongst the students.
"Where... did you hear that from, Aries darling?" the teacher seemed tense for a moment before changing that to a smile. "It is just rumours dear." " Well class, if you have no other questions I will start taking attendance." The teacher changed the subject almost instantly and unhappy with the reply, the girl called Aries kept staring grudgingly at the teacher for the whole lesson.
