"School Of Magic - Branch II" will be the title for now until I find a better name for it. My English is horrible so just take it as a draft for further amendments. The blog is a good place to save drafts in as it doesnt require much space. ---------------------------------------------
(Chapter 1)
"Ring...!" It was the first day of secondary school (or high school) and the long missed alarm sounded through the hallways and long corridors of the school as Karl dashed through the front gate of his new school. Although it is the first day of school, dashing schools of students are still a common sight especially for this school that Karl is studying in. Karl was quite surprised at the piles of people still dashing into the school despite the time they are supposed to reach the school has already passed.
'Pulau Tekong School of the Rare and Practitioned Arts'. Surprisingly, Karl had no idea what this school is all about nor does he know anything about this mysterious school he is admitted in. The name itself is already sufficiently mysterious and for it to be situated on the remote island of Pulau Tekong, an offshore island in a Super small country of Singapore, it does not seem at all normal. Not only did Karl have quite a hard time getting to the school because it was situated offshore, he was quite doubtful about the existance of the school whose name he has never heard before and also, he had never known that there was anything there at all besides camps for young training army men. None of his previous classmates or relatives, have actually heard of this school. But strange enough, there seemed to be an alarming number of students attending this school despite it being unheard of. "It could be a new school which have just recently opened..." Karl thought as he pulled out his letter of acceptance from his bag and relooked at it again. He never knew that letters were sent out instead of distributed out in class, which is the conventional way. His friends all received the results and their secondary school allocation in the result booklet. He has got no allocation to a secondary school because he got horrible grades in his Primary School Leaving Exams. He has been pondering for quite awhile about how he managed to be admitted into any school at all but at least his mother would not complain and nag at him for a while.
"Homeroom in Class 1-1." He read it out loud while searching for his classroom in the unfamiliar maze-like corridor he had been walking for quite a while.
"Hi friend!" Someone from behind Karl greeting him as Karl felt an intense slap on his back. From the voice, he could tell that it was a girl that had greeted him. Curious, as he does not remember having made any female friends because he was from an all boys school, he spun around and his vision had caught a familiar face. "Hi!" the girl came up beside him and started walking at his pace. She had long, black straight hair tied up in split plaits, big and light brown eyes and signature rose earrings. It took some time but he still figured who she is.
"You!" Karl shouted at the girl who was grinning at him. It happened a few days ago while Karl was helping out in his mother's fruit stall. It was lunch time and his mother was out for a quick lunch and he was left there to tend to the store. Suddenly a girl came up and started picking the fruits. Karl looked warily at the girl while she fills 2-3 basket with piles of fruits. After a while, the girl seemed to have realised that she was being monitored and looked up cheerfully. She then slowly raised her hand and pointed to something behind Karl asking, "May I know how much is that?". Reacting to her question, he turned around only to find nothing behind him. Realising it was a trick, he quickly turned back to find the girl grabbing one of the baskets and dashed off giggling. Deciding that it was an unforgivable act, not only for stealing from him but also tricking him and being laughed at, he went after the girl without thinking. To his shock, after going after the girl for a short distance, two other children approached his stall and grabbed the remaining baskets and ran off in the opposite direction. Stunned, he stopped in his tracks deciding whether to chase after the other two children instead. His dilemma, however, allowed all of the thieves to get away. His mother knew about it and was not very happy. He got quite a scolding after that (of course). Well, he did not think that he would actually meet her at school, and he never imagined that she was even studying in the same school as him and would greet him so openly like nothing ever happened.
"I knew we would meet again when I saw you the other day." She whispered to him as she inspected his suprised face. "Hey! You're the thief from..." Karl was about to give her a piece of his mind when he was cut off by an announcement made by the principal who is about to make his welcome speech.
Looking at Karl's irritated face, she quickly spoke, " I think we should hurry. It's this way. I'm in the same class as you are.".
Not waiting for Karl to respond, she grabbed his hand and dragged him hastily down the corridor...
